Barnwell County School District is proud to announce that Mrs. Desiree Still, agriculture teacher at the Barnwell County Career Center, has been selected as one of only 65 educators across the country to serve as a National Teacher Ambassador for the National Future Farmers of America (FFA) Organization for the 2025–2026 school year.

Mrs. Still will represent not only Barnwell County but the entire state of South Carolina in this prestigious national program, which includes educators from 28 states and territories. As part of the National Teacher Ambassador cohort, Mrs. Still will support over 13,000 FFA advisors across the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The National Teacher Ambassadors serve as mentors and leaders within the agricultural education community. Their role includes providing professional development, hosting webinars and workshops, and offering feedback to National FFA leadership on current trends and challenges in agricultural education.

“We are so proud of Mrs. Still and the incredible job she does working with our students through our agriculture program,” said Dr. Crissie Stapleton, Superintendent of Barnwell County School District. “This national recognition is a testament to her dedication, leadership, and passion for agricultural education. She continues to inspire not only her students but also her peers across the state and now, the country.”

According to the National FFA Organization, ambassadors like Mrs. Still are instrumental in advancing agricultural education and developing the next generation of leaders.

“Their commitment empowers students and also strengthens local and statewide communities to ensure the future of agriculture will be bright,” said Ambra Tennery, director of educational programs for the National FFA Organization.

Mrs. Still’s selection brings a spotlight to the strength and excellence of agricultural education in Barnwell County and highlights the district’s commitment to providing students with real-world, hands-on learning opportunities that prepare them for future success.
