BCSD News Release: Rotary Club of Barnwell County Recognizes BCSD Students for Service Above Self

September Rotary Students Pose with Certificates

BARNWELL, S.C. — September 17, 2026 - Six Barnwell County School District students were honored by the Rotary Club of Barnwell County during a Student Recognition Ceremony held Thursday, September 10.

The ceremony recognized students selected by their schools for August and September. The honorees exemplify the character, leadership, academic commitment and spirit of service reflected in Rotary’s guiding principle of “Service Above Self.”

Students recognized were:

  • Barnwell High School: Molly Wilson, August; MacKenzie Rivers, September
  • Blackville-Hilda High School: Bryce Collins, August; Kaiden Coleman Davis, September
  • Williston-Elko High School: Dorothy Still, August; Alyah Holmes, September

Family members and school representatives joined the students for the ceremony, celebrating their accomplishments and the positive examples they provide within their schools and communities.

The Rotary Club of Barnwell County has a longstanding tradition of partnering with local high schools to recognize students through its Service Above Self awards. Previous ceremonies have honored students nominated by their schools for their leadership, character and commitment to serving others. At the conclusion of each school year, one outstanding student is traditionally selected to receive the John McHenry Award, named in honor of a Barnwell County Rotarian.

“Recognition such as this reminds our students that their character, leadership and willingness to serve others matter,” said Barnwell County School District Superintendent Dr. Crissie Stapleton. “We are grateful to the Rotary Club of Barnwell County for continuing to celebrate young people who positively influence their schools and communities.”

Barnwell County School District congratulates Molly, MacKenzie, Bryce, Kaiden, Dorothy and Alyah on this meaningful recognition.
