Rotary Club Places Dictionaries in the Hands of BCSD Third Graders

BARNWELL, S.C., September 18, 2026 — Third grade students across Barnwell County School District received a special delivery this week as members of the Rotary Club of Barnwell County visited schools to present students with their own personal dictionaries.

During the visits, Rotary members distributed the dictionaries and encouraged students to use them as tools for reading, writing and discovering new words. The books offer much more than definitions, with additional educational resources that students can explore in the classroom and at home.

For many students, receiving a dictionary of their own is an exciting milestone. The project supports literacy development during an important stage in students’ education, when they are transitioning from learning to read to reading to learn across all subject areas.

Barnwell County School District appreciates the Rotary Club’s continued investment in local students and its commitment to promoting literacy, learning and academic success throughout the community.

The dictionary presentations reflect the power of community partnerships and demonstrate how local organizations can help place valuable educational resources directly into students’ hands.

Every Student Matters. Every Moment Counts.
