BCSD News Release: WEHS and BHHS Students Explore Future Pathways at 2026 CSRA College Night

Students pose for College Night

Barnwell, SC - September 4, 2026 - Students from Williston-Elko High School and Blackville-Hilda High School explored college, career and workforce opportunities Thursday, September 3, during the 2026 CSRA College Night at the Augusta Convention Center.

The annual event brought together representatives from more than 120 colleges and universities, giving students the opportunity to ask questions, compare programs and learn more about admissions, financial aid and campus life. Students could also connect with technical schools, professional organizations, military branches and employers representing a wide range of career pathways.

In addition to visiting college representatives, attendees could explore the Career Exploration area and SRS Career Lane, participate in informational seminars and receive individualized assistance at the College Night Counseling Center. Seminar topics included financial aid, financial literacy, college essay writing, résumé preparation and apprenticeship opportunities at the Savannah River Site.

For students who are still considering their options after graduation, the event provided a valuable opportunity to explore college, technical education, military service, apprenticeships and direct-to-workforce pathways—all in one location.

“Experiences like CSRA College Night help our students connect classroom learning with the opportunities available to them after high school,” said Superintendent Dr. Crissie Stapleton. “We want every student to graduate with a clear understanding of the pathways before them and the confidence to pursue the future that is right for them. We appreciate our school counselors, administrators and staff members who make opportunities like this accessible to our students.”

High school seniors attending the event were also eligible to register for the opportunity to receive one of several $1,000 scholarships, provided they graduate with a grade-point average of 2.5 or higher.

Coordinated by Savannah River Nuclear Solutions Education Outreach with support from local businesses and organizations, CSRA College Night has served tens of thousands of students and families since it began in 1993. Organizers report that the event has awarded more than $415,000 in scholarships and welcomed more than 176,000 attendees over its history. More than 5,000 people attended last year’s event.

By participating in CSRA College Night, WEHS and BHHS students gained information, resources and connections that can help them make informed decisions about their next steps after graduation.

Event details and resources are available on the Savannah River Site CSRA College Night webpage.
