Career Day 2025 at Williston-Elko Middle School (WEMS) was a roaring success! On the morning of October 10th, all students participated in a dynamic and engaging experience, rotating through nine sessions featuring speakers from across the state. Presenters represented a wide range of fields and organizations, including the Governor's School for Science and Mathematics, the Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities, Bamberg Legal, Healthy Learners, Keller Realty, the South Carolina Department of Education, United Way, AXIS I, North Augusta High School, TakeActionSC, and the popular ESports Gaming Bus.

Throughout the event, students had the opportunity to hear about career paths, educational experiences, and personal growth from professionals who were eager to share their stories. The atmosphere was filled with curiosity and excitement as students asked thoughtful questions and reflected on their future possibilities, while also learning wise advice firsthand from professionals. Principal Patricia Ulmer praised the success of the event, saying, “The feedback from our presenters was overwhelmingly positive. Many of them commented on how polite, engaged, and well-prepared our students were. They also noted how smoothly the event was organized and how effectively the schedule allowed every student to experience a wide range of career fields. I’m incredibly proud of our students, our staff, and our community partners for making Career Day such a meaningful and successful experience.”

Students, too, shared their enthusiasm, expressing appreciation for the chance to learn about new opportunities and for the life lessons shared by the speakers. “This was a good day,” said one seventh grader. “I am really feeling inspired.”
Guidance Counselor Nancy Brady-Wood, who coordinated the event, expressed pride in both the students and the community partnerships that made the day possible. “Career Day is about opening doors of possibility,” said Brady-Wood. “Our goal is to show students that there are so many exciting paths available to them — whether through higher education, skilled trades, public service, or emerging industries. It was wonderful to see our students so engaged and inspired by the professionals who took the time to invest in their futures.”

The 2025 Career Day at Williston-Elko Middle School truly showcased the spirit of connection and community that defines WEMS. With enthusiastic students and strong local support, the event served as an inspiring reminder that the future is bright for the next generation of leaders.
