Seventh- and eighth-grade students from Macedonia Elementary/Middle School (MEMS) participated in Athletics Education Day at Denmark Technical College on Friday, October 31, 2025. The event offered students a valuable opportunity to experience college life, explore higher education pathways, and experience collegiate athletics firsthand.

Upon arrival, students were greeted by Denmark Technical College staff and student-athletes and were given a guided tour of the campus led by members of the Denmark Tech men’s basketball team. The tour introduced students to the college’s academic programs, student facilities, and athletic department, while emphasizing the importance of higher education.
Following the campus tour, students enjoyed lunch in the student dining area and attended the Lady Tigers basketball game, where they experienced firsthand the excitement of collegiate sports.
“This was a wonderful opportunity for our students to see what college looks like and to connect classroom learning with real-world possibilities,” said MEMS Principal Chelsea Calhoun. “We are thankful to Denmark Technical College for welcoming our students and providing such a wonderful experience.”
The Athletics Education Day visit aligns with MEMS’s commitment to promoting college and career readiness by exposing students to postsecondary learning environments and opportunities at an early age.
Both MEMS and Barnwell County School District extend sincere appreciation to Denmark Technical College and its faculty, staff, and student-athletes for hosting an educational and memorable day for the students.
